Theoretical Approach
My clinical approach includes cognitive behavioral and psychodynamic approaches. Both forms of therapy examine our thinking, feeling and behavior. Each method assists an individual in understanding their own possible unknown patterns, feelings and motivations. Through psychodynamic therapy (Attachment & Object Relations) we will explore both current and past patterns of behavior that may be influencing your current functioning. I focus largely on integrating and correcting interpersonal interpretations and messages that we tell ourselves. I also use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma and associated symptoms. EMDR can be useful in managing symptoms of depression, addiction and anxiety as well. Through my training I have found that EMDR is useful for the treatment of many conditions. Last, I consider biological, social and psychological factors that interfere with a person's optimal functioning. The most important part of my therapeutic approach is based on making sure a client feels comfortable enough to open up.
